Procedural Guidelines

The name “Gold of Andria” is reserved for the extra-virgin olive oil made from the “Coratina or Racioppa” olive cultivars, which have excellent chemical/analytical characteristics, a high oleic acid content, high fatty acid ratios, a high content of anti-oxidising substances (polyphenols) and strong resistance to rancidity.

Such denomination is reserved for extra-virgin olive oils compliant with the conditions and requirements of the procedural guidelines of the “Oro di Andria” Olive Oil Consortium which also identifies the area of production considering the olive groves must be located in the countryside of Andria and neighbouring municipalities.

This regulation also establishes a series of growing characteristics, harvesting methods and processing, the characteristics of the oil at the time of packaging, chemical assessment and finally, presentation and designation.
